For 1 lb of pasta, you need a glass baking dish that is 13 inches long, 9 inches wide, and 2 inches deep as a minimum. If you want to add chunks of beef, chicken, or pork, you need a depth of 2.5 inches or more. Ground beef does not generally require additional depth.
Although that is a general rule, selecting cookware is a very personal choice, and you may have to get a different dish depending on what you add to your pasta and how you cook your pasta.

So you want to find a way to heat the food up without evaporating the water. The way I like to do this is by adding lots of cheese on the top. If you have a good layer of cheese, this will stop steam coming out of the pasta as it cooks.
If you leave the pasta to cool a little bit before serving it, the steam will have settled inside the pasta, and the pasta will be nice and moist – not dry and not mushy, just right.
Also, to stop pasta drying out, you can use a deeper dish. If you have a flat dish, it will make it easier for water to leave your pasta.
Also, some people cook their pasta dishes using a convection oven. I find this dries out the pasta. The alternative is to boil your pasta till al dente, add your other ingredients like cheese, and then put it under the flame of your grill instead of the oven.
This is not a real pasta bake, but it is a great way to melt the cheese onto your pasta without drying the food out.

Fill a baking dish halfway up with pasta, then add a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper, garlic, onions, pepper, and diced tomatoes, to the dish. Fill the dish with water up to half an inch, and then mix it all up, sprinkle cheese on top, and put it in the oven.
If you are cooking dry pasta in the oven, you have to remember you are not boiling the pasta, but you are steaming it. You only need a small amount of water (about 3 cups for a 9×13 glass pasta dish). Also, don’t cover the dish.
I must admit, even though cooking pasta in the oven is possible, boiling the pasta on a stove first, then putting it in the dish, is much easier, and makes better tasting pasta, in my opinion.

The oil you use should be a fruit oil, such as olive oil, coconut oil, or avocado oil (I recommend olive oil as it has the most neutral flavor). Cooking vegetable oils in the oven is not a good idea, as vegetable oils produce trans fats when they get hot, and these trans fats are bad for your health.
