  • Jazz's Ochai Agbaji: Traded to Jazz

    Rotowire

Agbaji will be traded to Utah as part of the trade package for Donovan Mitchell, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports.

Agbaji will be sent to Utah along with Lauri Markkanen, Colin Sexton, three unprotected first-round picks and two pick swaps. The 2022 No. 14 pick will be a nice three-and-D player for the Jazz who have struggled with their perimeter defense in recent years. Agbaji will be a main part of the young core the Jazz are looking to rebuild with after trading away Rudy Gobert and Mitchell.

  • Jazz's Lauri Markkanen: Dealt to Jazz in blockbuster

    Rotowire

Markkanen was included in a trade package Thursday that also shipped Collin Sexton, Ochai Agbaji, three unprotected first-round picks and two pick swaps to the Jazz in exchange for Donovan Mitchell, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports.

Markkanen is still just 25 and has played consistent minutes during his time with the Bulls and Cavs over his first five seasons. He joins a Jazz team that elected to rebuild this offseason, beginning the process by dealing Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves in early July. Markkanen should see ample playing time for Utah heading into just his second of four seasons under his current contract.

  • Jazz's Collin Sexton: Headed to Utah in sign-and-trade

    Rotowire

Sexton was dealt to the Jazz on Thursday as part of a sign-and-trade that brings Donovan Mitchell to Cleveland, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

For much of the offseason, Sexton's future with the Cavs appeared to be up in the air, but the team will ship him to Utah as part of a multi-player deal that also includes Lauri Markkanen and 2022 first-round pick Ochai Agbaji, as well as three future first-round picks and two future pick swaps. As part of the transaction, Sexton will sign a four-year, $72 million contract with the Jazz -- the entirety of which is fully guaranteed. Sexton played in only 11 games last season due to a torn meniscus, but he's said to be fully recovered and should be a full go for the start of training camp. In 2020-21, Sexton enjoyed a career year, posting 24.3 points, 4.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.6 threes per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field. With the Jazz now having moved on from both Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, they appear to be heading into a rebuild. While they'll likely find themselves near the bottom of the Western Conference standings this season, there should be plenty of opportunity for Sexton to flourish as an individual. If Utah opts to move on from veterans like Jordan Clarkson, Mike Conley or Bogdan Bogdanovic, it would free up even more possessions for Sexton, who could very well end up operating as the team's No. 1 option.

(Video) THINGS ARE GETTING UGLY WITH THE NEW YORK KNICKS

Mitchell has been discussed as a trade chip since the Jazz traded Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves in a deal that netted the team four first-round picks and a handful of players. While Utah was initially hesitant to move Mitchell, that has changed and appears to have reached a point where the team is hoping to get a deal done ahead of the season. By most accounts, the Knicks are the favorites to land him.

  • Trade grades: Lakers land Beverley from Jazz

    CBS Sports Jack Maloney

  • Jazz's Stanley Johnson: Traded to Utah

    Rotowire

Johnson and Talen Horton-Tucker were traded from the Lakers on Thursday to the Jazz for Patrick Beverley, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Johnson is somewhat of a throw-in for this deal. He's 26 years old and doesn't quite fit Utah's rebuilding mindset, but the Jazz may opt to hold onto him and give him minutes to rehab more of his value. Johnson -- the former No. 8 pick in the 2015 Draft -- has struggled to find a consistent role in the NBA across four prior stops. Last year with the Lakers was a bounceback, and he found success playing a defensive role while sometimes portraying a big on offense. However, even with a potentially-increased role in Utah, it's unlikely Johnson will be with a roster spot in fantasy. He's never returned top-200 value in eight-category roto formats on a per-game basis, even when he saw 27.4 minutes for a Detroit team that drafted him.

  • Jazz's Talen Horton-Tucker: Dealt to Utah

    Rotowire

Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson were traded from the Lakers to the Jazz on Thursday for Patrick Beverley, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

After a promising sophomore campaign with the Lakers, Horton-Tucker was given a two-year, $19.8 million contract in August 2021. The team was let down, however. While Horton-Tucker's counting stats mostly improved -- partially due to increased playing time -- he shot just 41.6 percent from the field and 26.9 percent from three. In win-now mode, the Lakers decided to move on from the young wing and trade him to the rebuilding Jazz. With Utah, Horton-Tucker should have increased opportunities to develop and show off his skillset rather than being a pure role player next to LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook. A seemingly-inevitable trade of Donovan Mitchell could open things up even more, and many of Utah's other veterans are presumably on the trade block. There's a scenario where Horton-Tucker is worth taking a flier on in standard leagues, but that will depend on who's on the roster before the season starts.

Bass spent most of the 2021-22 season in the G League and averaged 17.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in 27.2 minutes per game over 26 appearances with the South Bay Lakers. The 26-year-old will compete for a depth role with Utah ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
