1 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2018 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/10/2020

Basically I was at the store came out to go home and the car would not start then after a while it started up but then when I went to drive it again it was giving me a hard time to start and after I waited a while and tried again it started up but would not switch gears out of park at all and it has been an ongoing problem I went to Nissan and when I got there they told me to change the key fobs in which I did and it started up with no problem but after a few weeks the same problem has happened then it fees like the vehicle stalls to drive off when you press the gas. And when it wouldn't start it kept showing my brake pedal and key fob together. I was parked in a parking lot and actually had to end up calling my road side assistance to have the vehicle towed because it wouldn't start up and there are no warning lights or anything coming up on my dashboard ok top of that I just had the battery, alternator, transmission and engine checked at Nissan and they said there was nothing wrong.

5 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

Nissan Altima 2006 repeatedly fails to start. Once we got it started we would drive a short distance and then it would die out. Very scary as we were on a traffic roadway. We proceeded to a service center to get a new battery and alternator but that only started the vehicle for a few moments then it died out again. Repair technician informed us it was the Nissan computer box indicating it was reading everything "backwards" and thus the car could not determine how to start the car anymore. The service center got in touch with a Nissan dealership and ordered a new computer box. The new computer did not work either! we are stuck with an inoperable vehicle. Help!.

6 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/17/2016

I purchased the car new year 2013 in 2014 I noticed a roaring noise while driving on the street at slow and high speeds. Around christmas eve I was driving when the car died out on me on the street. I had the car towed to the dealer where they did their diagnosis. They had the car for 5 days, they said they had to replace the alternator which they said had internal problems and also reprogram the system of the computer of the car at 29,326 miles which is odd to me because it was a newer car. So now its 2016 and I brought the car back in to the dealer today because it seemed as the windows would roll down slow, the car wouldnt accelerate right away when pushing down on the gas (stalling) and it would shake while driving or at a stop, and when coming to a stop it would jerk as if someone hit my rear end. They did the diagnosis and said they had to reprogram the transmission. So I now believe there is internal problems with the car which is probably going to lead to the engine or transmission to go on me. And it is a manufacturers problem because I shouldnt of had any problems like these for a 2013 now at 46,000 miles.

7 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

Everything I have had to replace/repair on this car is linked to recalls, but Nissan is denying this & refusing to help. They said my vehicle was not part of any recalls but everything that's failing is related. It has died on me in the middle of highway traffic w/ my child in the car several times. This car is defective & no one from Nissan is concerned!!!! butterfly screw/valve issues, cam/crank shaft issues--related to engine cooling, high oil consumption; alternator failing; oil leaking.

9 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/07/2015

This is a combination of problems. Approximately around Nov. 7, 2015 the check engine light came on while at the dealer (almost one year after the last time). I have not owned my vehicle 2 years yet. I thought they had taken care of it when they told me the light shouldn't come back on. They said the code was for reprogramming the mass air system. About 2 weeks later the same light came on but this time I lost acceleration again while getting on the freeway. I had a couple of close calls on being rear-ended while having my son in the car. I had to get off immediately and drive down to the dealer which took me it seemed forever because it would barely move. I had to leave the vehicle as it was closing. The following day I was called and told that it required reprogramming of the mass air system. I had them do it but it took them 1 day to return the vehicle to me. About 2 days later the check engine light came back on again and I took it back to the same dealer. This time finding the problem wasn't as easy. They kept my vehicle for 3 days before letting me know that I needed to have the throttle chamber replaced. Really now. . . Check engine light on a total of 2 times in 1 year + 2 more time in another year, 1 alternator replaced in 1 year , 1 throttle chamber replaced in almost 2 years, leaking rear shocks in 1 year and Nissan does nothing to replace my vehicle which is a constant safety hazard for me and my family.

10 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2006 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/17/2015

I have had the car for 9 years and have been locked out the vehicle, the alternator had to be replaced because the car shut down 1 month ago. The car has been shutting down for 4 yrs when the weather changes. I just discovered a whole in the bottom of the driver side ground. Due to rust there is a whole in the bottom of the car.

Driver side door lock stop functioning with the remote keyless entry fob. This is the only door that stopped working all the other doors function as intended. I believe it is a malfunction of the lock regulator.

12 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2010 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/18/2014

My 2010 Altima had been going dead for the last 3 days. I have to get a jump a jump in the am for work and afer work when I leave. I took the vehicle to an auto parts store to test the battery and was told the battery was effient so I am puzzled as to why this has been happening. I was told it may be the alternator. Today my car wouldnt start or even take a jump from another vehicle so I was left stuck. I believe here should be a recall on this make n model for these electrical issues or at least a discount on alternor replacements at the dealership.

19 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2003 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/12/2006

While driving about a week ago with no warning while making a left turn 2003 Nissan Altima just loss power and died it was so suttle I kept pressing the gas thinking the car was still running. All along stuck in the middle of oncoming traffic with a 4 and a 2 year old in the back seat. In the past week it has happened twice luckily just in my subdivision. About for months ago I went through the same thing and Nissan said it was the alternator gone bad had it replaced now problem is back. If something can be done it needs to be because someone is going to be seriously hurt with these cars just shutting off with no warning. All my symptoms seem to point to crank position sensor that I've been reading about . Now im going to have to fork over 5-600 hundred bucks to fix a problem that shouldn't be. Something needs to be done now!!!!.

Contact states while driving on the freeway vehicle stalled/ lost power. The vehicle was taken to a dealership. They told the contact it was an alternator, and it was repaired. When she drove the vehicle home it started doing the same thing . She took vehicle back to the dealership, they said it was the intake manifold. There was a recall on this year, make and model of vehicle, but this vehicle was not included due to VIN. Also, the dealership told her that if she didn't have this fixed that it would blow the pistons.

23 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 1998 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/20/2005

After arriving home safely from a long highway drive (7 hrs), our car sat for about 5 hours. When I started the car, I smelled smoke and heard a unusual rubbing noise under the hood. After popping the hood, I saw smoke pouring out of the alternator. I turned off the engine, went inside to get a fire extinguisher. The fire was still burning, but seemed to be inside the alternator. I extinguished it and hopefully saved serious engine damage. The car was towed to the dealer, and is awaiting service now.

28 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2000 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 07/16/2003

2000 Nissan Altima - alternator 'overcharged' the battery, causing the battery to explode. Luckily the hood was down and the engine was cold, otherwise there could have been physical injury or death and/or a car fire, due to the acid content of the battery. No 'warning' was given of the alternator overcharging. This should be the case, as it is with the warning of the alternator undercharging the battery.
